okay...This is just a tat idea that I'm a gunna git. I'll be getting this soon after we get back from Ireland. The space in the middle is reserved for the Chinese character for Esther's middle name. And it'll more colorful. I'll work that out with the tattoo artist...Anyway..On with the comic image.
This is muffin. He has a bladder problem. I've really been liking what John K's been saying about his thinking and whatnot over at his blog. He can be opinionated and crude, but he definitely has some great ideas about what makes cartoons great. I've also been listening to the Milt Kahl tapes on Animation Podcast. LOVE IT!!! It's just awesome to hear him talk about what he thinks of Disney movies...and it was funny to hear one of the students ask a bunch of questions, and then recognize the voice as Brad Bird. Great. Anyway...don't squeeze the charmin and then watch Tex Avery cartoons. You should do them separately.

the top one of evileye on the toilet is a rough of the splash page of my comic...the titel: It comes from within!! duh-duh-duhhhhhhhhhh. The bottom two are ideas I'm playing around with for a friend. He wanted some possible t-shirts for his band, Neon Brown, and I decided to go with a sort of non-sequitor...anyway...they're just rough as well...I'm really enjoying the whole draw with a pencil, then tighten up things with ink...anyway...I also wanted to say that I'm sorry for the message I left on your voicemail lastnight. I was drunk, and a little lonely. Still, that's no excuse for me calling you a whore. I apologize. There...now, don't you feel better...I know I do.

Now with real brush!!! i love this thing. I just wish the ink was waterproof. I got it at the japanese bookstore, which i also love. anyway...ignore the guy on the left...he's stupid. and arrogant. and not very well drawn. I should go, but call me sometime, we'll go have drinks.

okay....here's one more...one from Karin, and the rest from me...you can see the decline of my drawings...in the last three...and stuff...it was fun...I highly recommend getting your friends together and drinking and drawing and drinking....and stuff....with things. c'mon...you know you wanna.

Drinkin' and drawin' on coasters....

so Friday was a good drinkin' night...Well, 'cept for poor Karin, who was the designated driver...but she did kick out some awesome coasters. These are hers with one of Dev's.

Here's some of mine (top three), a lobster from Nate Fox, Two from Ramey Harris, two more from Dev and one from Matt.

Jordan did this whole self portrait series...he was unstoppable!!!! The two penciled ones are from Nate (fro) and Adam (chalk outline). These are only about half of what I came away with from the Capitol Club on Friday....It was a very fun night and drinks and merriment was had by all...Well, maybe not by our waitress...But still...

Redesigned captain handsome

and a bear. With crazy ink and whiteout splotches...cuz I keeps it real. I'm raw...It's the new punk. With arms completely bogied from Trussell. Hell, if you're going to experiment with other styles, might as well steal from the best.

I'm having one of those crappy drawing days, you know the type, the kind where, no matter how much you draw...It all looks like crap warmed in a toaster oven, with a side of Brie. Anyway...Here's my crappy "got to work early" drawing of captain handsome. With hair based off of Superman. I wanted captain handsome to have that lovely curl of hair that Superman has for some reason...And, of course, manly chest hair, along with crappy ink.

An inked Evileye...

here's Evileye in all his inked glory...I've decided to remove his mask, as he's a superhero that works with the city, and he lives alone, so he doesn't really need a secret identity, that, and it lets me do some fun things with his face at times. I've got the comic all storyboarded oot, and, will begin the pushing of the poses and changing angles and just overall making it better with input from friends and co-workers. I'll post some here onest I actually get some pencils done'd. Anyway...Don't forget to clean up after your dog poops...and have a nice day. and yesh, i know his left nipple is a little high...but so am I, so that's okay.

Here's my version of Schmiddy's character Frank Grimm. I just wanted to practice more of the brush pen and stuff, and I love Schmiddy's characters...soooooo, I made my own version. Not as good as Schmiddy's but, there can be only one.....Schmiddy that is. Any hoo....Hope he doesn't sue me. Maybe I could buy him off with a few beers...and a back rub or something....anyhoo...Enjoy.

Just some crap from last night

Inspired by Pat's sketchbook entry, and also by Dev's awesome inking abilities...I decided to try to draw with a brush pen...As you can tell...I'm no Dev. I'm no Pat. Hi, I'm Gene. How's it going. A lot of these are inked drawings, 'cept the one in the top left. Mr. Ace Aceton, Ace Detective is all done with the brush pen...I think I need to learn how to modulate the thickness of my lines a little more...I have to "make sacrifices to the art god" as Dev puts it and fill a sketchbook with lines. Anyway...Keep it real smokey. I like a good smokey flavor. Kiss, kiss.

Well, the wife went and booked us a flight to Dublin!! We're spending a lovely week in Ireland. March will be the month of love, and Huddle and I will relish it with a pint or four of the black stuff. Sigh. I'll be doing a sketch diary then and will show it off when we get back, and you can all pretend that you were there. Three cheers for the wife!!

Dr. Professor Nochin. He's evil and often speaks in puns. Evileye hates puns. They make him roll his eyes in righteous fury. And Dr. Prof, as his minions call him, hates cats, but loves a good marble rye...He's evil I tell you, EVIL!!!!

This is Police Chief Chesty McBoob. Evileye has a crush on her, but, unfortunately for him, she's a lesbian. They did date a little in college, but that was when she was experimenting.

Just a quick sketch of the wife and I as kids. Look, we're playing tag...and I'm it...sexy, no? Still don't know what style to color in or anything like that, but I'll work that out after the comic is done. It's official, God loves me...

Well, I was doing my usual morning inspirational blog checking out-age, when I came across this...the list...and just about wet myself. He's one of my favorite artists...I LOVE his drawrings. So, bolstered by that, I decided to post some really crappy production drawings from my comic. Keep in mind, these are extremely rough and only the first pass...but if you have any suggestions on pushing poses, or better layout, or anything...feel free to let me know...I'll cry, but it'll be a good cry...the kind that releases all the toxins from diaper rash. So help me. The balm's not working.

One of Evil Eye's most devastating powers. The Stink Eye. Don't judge the stink effect yet...That's just temporary. I'm not an effects animator, okay...So back off. Geeze Louise.

I've decided to do my comic with Bart about Evil Eye and his roommate Captain Handsome. I've been thinking of an origin story as well as a simple day in the life of. I'll post more drawin's as I think them up...So stay tuned. If not you'll miss something beautiful. Or not, I don't really know how this is going to turn out, so you could be tuning in to watch a complete and utter meltdown of an individual. Stick around and find out!!
